A Potential Disrupter in the Making

Ride hailing services or taxi aggregators have taken the taxi market by a storm. Customers are happy with the services and drivers feel good with the financial returns and freedom which comes along. Drivers driving traditional taxis are rattled with the development and car makers are feeling uncertain about the future. Many more allied businesses and services will get disrupted as we move into the future. And many will find opportunities within this space.

Came across your blog yesterday through a post of SafalNiveshak. Pretty good thought process.

Your thought process on Bajaj Qute is interesting and I fully agree with the same. However, one question that we need to ask is why have Ola/ Uber fleet not shifting towards current cheaper options available such as Maruti Alto. The local "Kaali Peeli" cabs owners have preferred to buy Alto when they had to scrap their old Fiat cars?

Maybe because they are stuck with their existing cars and probably will shift over next few years. But I am sure there are new cars being added to fleet and yet I don't see many smaller cars such as Alto...Wagon R - Yes.

So there is a possibility that commuters would not feel comfortable in "Qute". I am Green conscious and 4 years back evaluated Mahindra Reva when I wanted to buy a car. But it was too small to be comfortable and had to drop it from consideration set.

Maybe as a commuter, I would take Qute instead of Auto rickshaw. But not be comfortable taking a Qute when I want to use a Taxi.

Also, given that Qute is not air conditioned, it would be difficult to prefer it over a Taxi. I liked your thought process and it got me thinking and reading about Qute and so thought of sharing my perspective.
